Feed grains: China expected to use more corn

By Commodity News Service Canada

Winnipeg, December 29 – China plans to use an increased amount of corn over the next three years, reports from the country say.

In order to work through high domestic supplies, China will use increased amounts of corn in animal feed, and produce more corn-based biodegradable plastic.

Feed barley is selling for nearly C$140 to C$170 per metric tonne in parts of Alberta into 2017, according to quotes from Agfinity.com.

The same website lists feed wheat prices in Alberta about on par for the New Year.

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade ended about one cent per bushel higher on Thursday.

The US dollar slipped on Thursday, which is bullish. Spillover support from nearby grain markets further underpinned values.
