Winnipeg, September 23 – The Canadian dollar was lower relative to its US counterpart at midday Wednesday.
The Canadian dollar was at US$0.7497 or US$1 = C$1.3338 at 11:45 CDT Wednesday.
The value of a barrel of crude oil fell which dragged down the loonie.
Canadian retail sales rose 0.5% to C$43.35 billion (seasonally adjusted) in July.
On the commodity markets the November crude contract in New York dropped US$0.67 to US$45.69 a barrel. The December gold contract rose US$6.20 to US$1,131.80 an ounce.
At 11:45 CDT Wednesday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was down 76.62 points to 13,414.47.
