WINNIPEG, February 22 – The Canadian dollar finished
slightly lower, relative to its US counterpart, on Wednesday.
Lower crude oil prices pointed the way lower for the
commodity-linked currency.
The Canadian dollar closed at C$0.7608 or US$1=C$1.3144,
compared to Tuesday’s close of C$0.7612 or US$1=C$1.3138.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index finished lower on Wednesday,
tracking losses in energy companies.
Barrick Gold shares softened by 1.3% on the day.
The index fell 92.15 points or 0.58% to 15,830.22.
Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:

Agrium Incorporated———-dn $ 0.51 at $135.29
Buhler Industries————up $ 0.09 at $ 4.61
Maple Leaf Foods————-up $ 0.09 at $ 29.94
Potash Corp. of Sask———dn $ 0.08 at $ 24.46
