The loonie closed at US$0.7294 or US$1=C$1.3709, compared to US$0.7287 or US$1=C$1.3723 on Tuesday.
The U.S. Dollar Index was unchanged at 105.25 points. Most U.S. markets were closed for most of the day on Wednesday due to the Juneteenth holiday.
Crude oil prices were lower as demand worries outweighed conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Brent crude oil slipped US$0.26 at US$85.07 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dipped US$0.10 at US$81.47/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index lost 94.40 points at 21,516.90.
Gold declined US$4.20 at US$2,342.70 per ounce.
