Canadian Financial Close: C$ Holds Steady

WINNIPEG, Sept. 15 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar held relatively steady on Friday, finishing slightly firmer relative to its US counterpart.

The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.8209 or US$1=C$1.2182, which compares with Thursday’s close of US$0.8198, or US$1=C$1.2198.

The currency was lacking any fresh market moving news on Friday, allowing investors to consolidate ahead of the weekend.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index was steady on Friday, gaining 0.31 points, to close at 15,173.03.

Canada’s agricultural sector faired as follows:
AGT Food and Ingredients—–up $ 0.44 at $ 26.18
Agrium Incorporated———-up $ 2.70 at $128.10
Buhler Industries———— $ 0.00 at $ 4.49
Maple Leaf Foods————-up $ 0.16 at $ 33.88
Potash Corp. of Sask———up $ 0.47 at $ 22.80
