WINNIPEG – The Canadian dollar was virtually unchanged on Friday morning.
The loonie was at US$0.7234 or US$1=C$1.3824, compared to Thursday’s close of US$0.7233 or US$1=C$1.3825. The United States Dollar Index was down 0.15 of a point at 106.46.
Crude oil prices were higher after the U.S. conducted air strikes on Iran-linked facilities in Syria, in response to attacks on American troops. Brent crude oil gained US$0.93 at US$88.86 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced US$0.97 at US$84.18/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index added 6.59 points at 18,881.90.
Gold dropped US$5.70 at US$1,991.70 per ounce.
