Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Little movement for loonie, crude oil

WINNIPEG – The Canadian dollar was virtually unchanged on Tuesday morning.

The loonie was at US$0.7472 or US$1=C$1.3383, down from US$0.7473 or US$1=C$1.3382 at Monday’s close. The United States Dollar Index was up 0.01 of a point at 102.15.

Crude oil was a little bit higher on Tuesday as traders assess demand from China. Brent crude oil was up US$0.02 to US$88.21/barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) increased US$0.07 at US$81.69/barrel. Meanwhile, Western Canadian Select (WCS) was down US$0.13 to US$58.44/barrel.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index declined 76.81 points to 20,554.77.

Gold gained US$2.60 per ounce to US$1,931.20.
