Canadian Dollar And Business Outlook

By Commodity News Service Canada

Winnipeg, October 31 – The Canadian dollar was lower relative to its
American counterpart Monday morning, following losses in crude oil
and gold.

At 9:57 CDT, the loonie was down 0.0022 of a cent to US$0.7453 or
US$1=C$1.3326, which compares with Friday’s close of US$0.7472 or
US$1=C$1.3384.

At 9:57 CDT Monday morning, the TSX was down 19.57 points, or 0.13%,
at 14,766.12.

The market was propped up by gains in utilities and financials. As
well, news that Suncor has formalized plans to sell Petro Canada’s
lubricants business to HollyFrontier was also supportive for the oil
patch in general.
