WINNIPEG, Oct. 24 (CNS Canada) The Canadian dollar was weaker Monday morning, as declines in crude oil weighed on the energy-linked currency.
At 9:15 CDT Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7496 or C$1.3340 which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7504 or C$1.3327.
Crude oil was down to start the week, as Iraq announced that it would not be cutting production and the US rig count continued to rise.
In domestic data, Canada’s wholesale trade was up 0.8 per cent in August, hitting C$56.8 billion, according to Statistics Canada data.
The TSX was down 20.38 points at 9:15 CDT to sit at 14,918.66.
