WINNIPEG, March 1 (CNS Canada) The Canadian dollar was weaker Thursday morning, as losses in crude oil put some pressure on the energy-linked currency.
At 9:10 CST Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7782 or C$1.2850, which compares with Wednesday’s North American close of US$0.7807 or C$1.2809.
Canada’s current account deficit narrowed to C$16.35 billion in the fourth quarter, according to a report from Statistics Canada. That came in below trade estimates and compares with the revised third quarter deficit of C$18.59 billion.
The TSX was weaker at 9:10 CST, down 79.23 points at 15,363.45.
