WINNIPEG, Oct. 19 (CNS Canada) The Canadian dollar was holding relatively steady Thursday morning, as the currency saw some consolidation after hitting its strongest levels in a week yesterday.
At 9:28 CDT Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.8016 or C$1.2475 which compares with Wednesday’s North American close of US$0.8009 or C$1.2486.
In domestic data, Employment Insurance beneficiaries in Canada declined by 1.8 per cent in August, hitting 524,200 people, according to a report from Statistics Canada.
Crude oil was softer on Thursday, putting some pressure on the energy-linked Canadian currency.
The TSX was weaker at 9:23 CDT, down 8.37 points at 15,773.8
