The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $71.02 May 23. It was $69.43 May 15.
U.S. hogs averaged $94.86 on a carcass basis May 23, up from $94.79 May 15.

In Canada, the May 24 Signature Four price was $226.43 per 100 kilograms, down from $226.77.
The May 24 Hams Marketing cash price was $224.77, while May 17 it was $221.50. HyLife was $242.14 this week; it was $237.57 on May 17. OlyWest was $229.10, up from $224.50 last week.
OlyWest 2021 was up, at $237.20, from $231.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $242.14 this week. On May 17 it was $237.57.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $635-$695 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $610-$660 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $500-$550 per cwt. and mature cows were $500-$550 per cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$485-$500 per cwt. for bulls and $450-$470 per cwt. for heifers.
Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.
All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were C$4.60 per pound for bulls and $4.50 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better.
The mixed live animal price was $4.92 per lb.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 242 sheep and 469 lambs sold May 12.
Beaver Hill Auctions at To field, Alta., reported that 989 sheep and 283 goats sold May 12.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $420-$500 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $430-$490, 70-85 lb. were $400-$470, 86-105 lb. were $380-$445, and 106 lb. and heavier were $350-$415. Wool rams were $150-$370 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$370.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $390-$450, 55-69 lb. were $400-$465, 70-85 lb. were $350-$440, 86-105 lb. were $350-$415 and 106 lb. and heavier were $300-$370. Hair rams were $165-$275 per cwt. Cull ewes were $170-$330.
