The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $73.57 May 9 and $70.34 May 2.
U.S. hogs averaged $94.47 on a carcass basis May 9, up from $91.51 May 2.

The U.S. pork cutout was $97.83 per hundredweight May 9, down from 98.38 May 2.

Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $635-$695 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $600-$650 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $500-$550 per cwt., while mature cows were $500-$550 per cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$485-$500 per cwt. for bulls and $450-$470 per cwt for heifers.
Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.
All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were C$5.95 per pound for bulls and $4.69 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better.
The mixed live animal price was not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 257 sheep and 314 lambs sold May 5.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 467 sheep and 186 goats sold May 5.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $420-$460 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $390-$480, 70-85 lb. were $390-$485, 86-105 lb. were $350-$420, and 106 lb. and heavier were $320-$358. Wool rams were $160-$350 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$350.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $300-$450, 55-69 lb. were $380-$460, 70-85 lb. were $340-$400, 86-105 lb. were $325-$385 and 106 lb. and heavier were $290-$330. Hair rams were $175-$285 per cwt. Cull ewes were $170-$330.
