Hog futures jumped because traders expect South Korea will import more pork. The Asian country had to deeply cull its herd because of foot-and-mouth disease.
The April contract in Chicago hit a record high 92.30 cents US per pound.
Iowa-southern Minnesota cash hogs delivered to plants rose to $58 US per hundredweight Jan. 28 from $56 on Jan. 21.
The U.S. pork carcass cut-out value was $88.57 Jan. 28, up from $86.64 Jan. 21. The U.S. federal slaughter estimate was 2.179 million head, up from 2.166 million the previous week.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield Alta. reported 1,634 sheep and 202 goats sold Jan. 24.
Wool lambs lighter than 70 lb. were $205-$228 per cwt, 70-85 lb. were $196-$220, 86-105 lb. were $175-$194, and 106 lb. and heavier

Good kid goats lighter than 50 lb. were $120-$190. Those heavier than 50 lb. were $145-$201 per cwt. Nannies were $78-$96 per cwt. Billies were $102.50-$135.
Ontario Stockyard reported 1,088 sheep and lambs and 76 goats traded Jan. 24. Lambs and goats were steady but sheep were barely steady.
