Expected cold weather that might interfere with deliveries kept U.S. cash bids steady, but traders also believe prices could fall once Christmas ham buying is complete.
Iowa-southern Minnesota cash hogs delivered to plants were little changed at $50 to $51.50 US per cwt. Dec. 10, compared to $50.50 Dec. 3.
The U.S. pork carcass cut-out value rose to $78.50 Dec. 10, up from $77.12 Dec. 3. Average carcass weight for barrows and gilts in the week ending Nov. 27 was five pounds heavier than last year because of improved corn quality.
U.S. federal slaughter estimate for the week was 2.26 million head, down from 2.32 million the week before.

BISON PRICES STAY STRONG
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range were $3 to $3.45 per pound hot hanging weight.
Grade A heifers in the desirable weight range were $3 to $3.45.
Animals older than 30 months and those outside the desirable weight range may be discounted.
Slaughter cows and bulls were $2.10 to $2.40.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 547 sheep and 189 goats sold Dec. 6.
Wool lambs lighter than 70 lb. were $188-$203 per hundredweight, 70-85 lb. were $172-$188, 86-105 lb. were $164-$174 and 106 lb. and heavier were $156-$163.
Wool rams were $82-$100 per cwt. Cull ewes were $76-$90 and bred ewes were $90-$120.
Hair lambs lighter than 70 lb. were
$180-$190 per cwt., 70-85 lb. were $170- $182, 86-105 lb. were $157-$168 and 106 lb. and heavier were $150-$160.
Hair rams were $82-$98 per cwt. Cull ewes were $78-$90.
Good kid goats lighter than 50 lb. were $125-$144. Those heavier than 50 lb. were $140-$166 per cwt. Nannies were $68-$81 per cwt. Billies were $100-$135.
Ontario Stockyards reported 2,376 sheep and lambs and 390 goats traded Dec. 6. Lambs were steady to lower. Sheep were $5 to $10 per cwt. lower. Most classes of goats sold barely steady, and under-finished and plain types faced downward pressure.
