WP LIVESTOCK REPORT

PORK RECORD SET

Cash hog prices in the U.S. held steady, but might face pressure lower as numbers increase seasonally and cooler weather allows better weight gain.

However, strong pork exports to China will keep a floor under prices.

Canadian prices were supported by the weaker loonie.

Iowa-southern Minnesota cash hogs delivered to plants were $78 US per hundredweight Aug 12, steady with Aug. 5.

Cash U.S. pork carcass cut-out value set a record high Aug. 8 at $110.19 per cwt. and closed at $109.85 Aug. 12, up from $108.87 Aug. 5.
