The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts on Sept. 9 was $78.37. It was $82.82 on Sept. 2.
U.S. hogs averaged was $106.10 on a carcass basis on Sept. 9, down from $106.37 on Sept. 2.

For the week ending Sept. 6, Western Canadian feeder cattle markets were relatively unchanged compared to seven days earlier.

Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices for finished bulls $645 to $700 per cwt. hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $620 to $665 per cwt. HHW. Mature bulls were $500 to $550 per cwt., while mature cows were $500 to $550 per cwt. HHW.
Carcass prices for bison being sold into the U.S. were US$495 to $510 per cwt. HHW for bulls. Heifers were US$455 to $480 per cwt. HHW. Mature bulls were not available, and mature cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were $5.02 per pound for bulls and $3.88 per pounds for heifers of good quality or better. Mixed live animal price was $4.25.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 321 sheep and 604 lambs sold on Sept. 8.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported 1,175 sheep and 586 goats sold on Aug. 25.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 pounds were $320-$385 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $320-$380, 70-85 lb. were $280-$345, 86-105 lb. were $260-$318, and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$300. Wool rams were $170-$275 per cwt. Cull ewes were $180-$295.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $260-$360, 55-69 lb. were $270-$345, 70-85 lb. were $270-$328, 86-105 lb. were $250-$300 and 106 lb. and heavier were $240-$285. Hair rams were $200-$260 per cwt. Cull ewes were $190-$300.
