Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $80.15 Sept. 23. It was $81.21 Sept. 17.

U.S. hogs averaged $106.99 on a carcass basis Sept. 23, up from $106.71 Sept. 17.

Canfax cattle market report – October 2, 2025

The Canfax cattle market report for October 2, 2025. Fed & feeder cattle prices, butcher cow trends, and cutout market insights.

The U.S. pork cutout was $112.68 per hundredweight Sept. 23 23, up from $110.98 Sept. 17.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 23 was 0.979 million. It was 0.978 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 0.969 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Sept. 20 Signature Four price was $252.80 per 100 kilograms, down from $253.78.

The Sept. 20 Hams Marketing cash price was $250.80, while on Sept. 13 it was $251.78. HyLife was $267.78 this week and $269.67 Sept. 13. OlyWest was $264.40, up from $263.00 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $271.10, from $270.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $267.78 this week. On Sept. 13 it was $270.45.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $645-$700 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $620-$665 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $500-$550 per cwt., while mature cows were $500-$550 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$495-$510 per cwt. for bulls and $455-$480 per cwt. for heifers.

Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.

All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 197 sheep and 533 lambs sold Sept. 22.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 2,366 sheep and 448 goats sold Sept. 15.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $360-$445 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $330-$410, 70-85 lb. were $295-$342, 86-105 lb. were $260-$307, and 106 lb. and heavier were $240-$288. Wool rams were $160-$235 per cwt. Cull ewes were $160-$260.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $290-$395, 55-69 lb. were $290-$350, 70-85 lb. were $290-$330, 86-105 lb. were $260-$315 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$285. Hair rams were $170-$290 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$255.
