Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $66.34 Nov. 4 and $63.97 Oct. 28.

U.S. hogs averaged $84.71 on a carcass basis Nov. 4, down from $88.03 Oct. 28.

The U.S. pork cutout was $99.17 per hundredweight Nov. 4, down from $100.02 Oct. 28.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Nov. 4 was 0.981 million. It was 0.979 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 0.975 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Nov. 1 Signature Four price was $226.18 per 100 kilograms, down from $232.06.

The Nov. 1 Hams Marketing cash price was $224.18, while on Oct. 25 it was $230.06. HyLife was $239.63 this week; and $245.89 Oct. 25. OlyWest was $234.50, down from $242.30 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $243.20, from $249.90, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $240.34 this week. On Oct. 25 it was $245.89.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $645-$700 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $630-$685 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $525-$575 and mature cows were $525-$575.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$495-$515 per cwt. for bulls and $460-$485 per cwt. for heifers.

Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.

All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 181 sheep and 306 lambs sold Nov. 3.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,547 sheep and 647 goats sold Oct. 27.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $380-$415 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $350-$400, 70-85 lb. were $330-$380, 86-105 lb. were $275-$340, and 106 lb. and heavier were $250-$300. Wool rams were $180-$250 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$280.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $350-$410, 55-69 lb. were $330-$390, 70-85 lb. were $310-$354, 86-105 lb. were $280-$340 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$285. Hair rams were $165-$240 per cwt. Cull ewes were $165-$245.
