Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $75.97 June 6 and $77.01 on May 30.

U.S. hogs averaged $100.55 on a carcass basis June 6, up from $95.40 May 30.

The U.S. pork cutout was $111.51 per hundredweight June 6, up from $107.22 May 30.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 6 was 2.347 million. It was 1.903 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.375 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 7 Signature Four price was $233.46 per 100 kilograms, up from $227.82.

The June 7 Hams Marketing cash price was $231.46, while on May 31 it was $225.82. HyLife was $249.44 this week; it was $242.67 May 31. OlyWest was $236.50, up from $231.50 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $246.10, from $240.60, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $251.27 this week. May 31 it was $244.21.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $635-$695 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $610-$660 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $500- $550 per cwt., while mature cows were $500-$550 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$485-$500 per cwt. for bulls and $450-$470 per cwt. for heifers.

Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.

All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were C$4.60 per pound for bulls and $4.50 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better.

The mixed live animal price was $4.92 per lb.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 366 sheep and 861 lambs sold June 2.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,475 sheep, and 161 goats sold June 2.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $390-$485 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $325-$423, 70-85 lb. were $325-$408, 86-105 lb. were $355-$450, and 106 lb. and heavier were $330-$405. Wool rams were $180-$365 per cwt. Cull ewes were $140-$245.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $300-$375, 55-69 lb. were $320-$365, 70-85 lb. were $320-$415, 86-105 lb. were $340-$413 and 106 lb. and heavier were $320-$385. Hair rams were $160-$340 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$340.
