Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices for finished bulls $570 to $600 per cwt., hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $535 to $600 cwt. HHW. Mature bulls were not available, while mature cows were $425 to $450 cwt.
Carcass prices for bison being sold into the U.S. were US$440 to US$460 for bulls per cwt. Heifers were US$425 to US$445 per cwt. Mature bulls were not available while mature cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were $3.00 per pound for bulls and $2.70 per pound for heifers of good quality or better. Mixed live animal price was not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 442 sheep and 449 lambs sold on March 11.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alberta reported 1,368 sheep and 661goats sold March 24.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $390-$480 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $390-$465, 70-85 lb. were $385-$486, 86-105 lb. were $355-$440, and 106 lb. and heavier were $285-$350. Wool rams were $165-$340 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$290.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $370-$495, 55-69 lb. were $350-$495, 70-85 lb. were $380-$435, 86-105 lb. were $335-$400 and 106 lb. and heavier were $260-$335. Hair rams were $170-$235 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$325.
