A business risk management program is being developed at Lethbridge College in a new partnership with the Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association.

Classroom and online modules will be offered this fall as part of the Southern Alberta Cor Van Raay Agribusiness Program.

“We need to attract the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs to our industry,” said John Lawton, a member of the cattle feeders board.

“We also have to compete with other industries for talented people to run our businesses in the future.”

Interested participants can pick and choose courses on new management skills, government policy, marketing and business risk management.

The college announced the Cor Van Raay Southern Alberta Agribusiness Program last June in partnership with the University of Lethbridge.

The idea is to create courses that teach students advanced agribusiness practices to operate a diverse range of businesses in the agricultural industry.

Business risk management is one of the first initiatives to be developed and launched under the new agribusiness program.
