REGINA – Angus ruled at this year’s Canadian Western Agribition shows
and sale.
For Rob and Gail Hamilton of Cochrane, Alta., winners of this year’s
Beef Supreme Challenge bull, the event culminated a busy and rewarding
show week. They brought 15 animals to town and defeated all the
challengers in nearly every class entered.
Besides the supreme champion bull, they also won the grand champion
female and junior champions, premier exhibitor and breeder’s herd
awards.

They also entered two head in the Agribition Angus sale where they had
the top selling female of the day when they sold the daughter of their
grand champion cow for $16,250 to Remington Land and Cattle Co.,
Cardston, Alta. Their other heifer went for $6,500 to West Poplar Red
Angus at Rockglen, Sask.
Their next move is possibly entering their champion bull named
Riverbend Powerline at the National Western Stock Show in Denver,
Colorado. He is owned in partnership with K-Deen Angus of Cochrane,
Allan Browarny of Calgary and Pat Fullam of Ireland. They purchased the
bull as a calf at Denver two years ago.
After such a busy fall show season, some might put their feet up and
relax for Christmas, but the Hamiltons have other plans.
“We could use a rest but we have our bull and female sale coming up in
two weeks,” said Gail.
The sale will offer about 100 lots on the farm Dec. 14.
