CALGARY – Talk radio is going country.

Starting March 16, Calgary’s all talk station QR 77 will open the phone lines every Saturday night at 7 p.m. for an hour of agriculture programming hosted by Jim Fisher.

“Every time there were agriculture topics (on the talk programs), the lines lit up,” said Fisher, who is also farm commentator on the Q91 network of 11 country stations heard throughout Alberta.

Program director Jay Donald sees this kind of talk show as a natural extension of what the station already offers.

The show will cover the Calgary listening area and if successful may be picked up by QR’s sister station 630 CHED in Edmonton and go province-wide.

Fisher’s format will include interviews and some open line. The first guest will be provincial agriculture minister Walter Paszkowski.
