Do you have a passion for agriculture and want to share your views with others? The Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture is accepting entries for its competition at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto in November.
Topics include:
- Behind the scenes: the unsung heroes of Canadian agriculture.
- Changes I would make as the federal minister of agriculture for a day.
- How Canadian agriculture is being affected by the global economic downturn.
- Why I want to make my career in agriculture.
- Farming the future: taking agriculture into the 21st century.

The competition has two divisions. The senior level is open to youth between 16 and 24 years old, while the junior category is for ages 11 to 15.
Participants must present a five to seven minute speech in either English or French.
The contest will be held Nov. 7 at the Royal, with finalists receiving cash prizes. The senior winner will receive $1,000 and the top junior will be awarded $500.
The first competition was launched to mark international youth year in 1985.
