Members of Prairie Women On Snowmobiles, or PWOS, are tuning their sleds for their upcoming Mission 2007, scheduled for Feb. 2-9.

Ten women will ride about 2,000 kilometres across Saskatchewan over eight days. The ride is to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

The event is the seventh annual ride for PWOS, which originated in Saskatchewan in 2001. Since the inaugural event, the women have raised more than $750,000.

All donations to PWOS go to the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

Snowmobilers begin this year’s trip in Wadena and travel through Duck Mountain, Melville, Watrous, Rosetown, North Battleford, Candle Lake and Naicam before finishing in Lanigan. The group plans to make 25 stops along the way.

In addition to the 10 core riders and the support crew, the public can ride along as the group passes through their communities.

More information is on the group’s website, at www.prairiewomen.ca.
