Injuries are the leading cause of death among Canadian children ages one to 19 and the third leading cause of hospital visits, reports the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Many injuries are caused by household and play items, including trampolines. As trampoline use increases, so do the injuries. Here are tips for safe fun.
- Follow assembly instructions.
- Provide supervision at all times.
- Ensure the trampoline meets safety regulations.
- Set it on level ground away from obstructions.
- Do not allow more than one child on at the same time. Children under age six should not be allowed on the trampoline.
- Remove loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught.
- Don’t attempt tricks without a certified trampoline instructor present.
