Q: I suppose that I should retire like my brother did when he turned 65 but I still enjoy my time on the land and cannot see any reason to let that go.

My son farms most of our land and he is doing great. I try to take some of the pressures of farming off him and his family and I am always looking for an excuse to get out there.

My problem is that I keep getting little memories of things that happened years ago. It is like these memories are haunting me. They remind me of something rude or cruel that I said to someone. Other times, I replay bad decisions I have made. The truth is that these memories bug me and I would like to get rid of them.

A: I will refer to your bad memories as flashbacks that pop into your head without notice and just as quickly disappear again. They remind us of times or people we would rather forget. Your flashbacks are likely reminding you about something you are ashamed about.

Flashbacks tend to increase with age. Chances are the actual events happened years ago.

There is a message in each of the tales. It is up to you to find it and learn from it. If your flashbacks are reminding you of something rude that you said or of impulsive decisions you made, then make a conscious effort to change. Think things out and plan what you are about to do when confronted with challenges. You will be a better person for it.
