Discover your own recharger

If you don’t recharge the battery on your portable phone, your electric razor or other appliances, they run down and stop working.

It’s more difficult to recharge yourself. You are unique. Nobody else knows what works for you. You have to experiment and find out how your very personal emotional recharger works in life.

Some people recharge best by being off by themselves. Sleeping in and pampering oneself may be helpful to some. Dead silence, with nothing disturbing them at all, is preferred by others. Going for walks, perhaps in a quiet, private space, helps others.

Starting a small business comes with legal considerations

This article sets out some of the legal considerations to start a business to sell home-grown product, such as vegetables, herbs, fruit or honey.

Spritual recharging

Many people recharge themselves in spiritual ways. They pray. They meditate. They read the Bible or inspirational books.

Others use conversation and interaction to recharge themselves. A good, long talk with a friend is as good as a long rest. Still others recharge by reading or watching movies, television or theatre.

Some people need activity and stimulation to recharge their batteries. Exercise or aerobics can help both physically and emotionally. Improving circulation also improves their emotional outlook on life.

Music often helps people to recharge emotionally, but the type of music may vary. Some people like quiet classical music, preferably easy to listen to with a lot of strings.

Others prefer overtures with a variety of crescendos and rhythms. Some prefer folk music or the blues, and others prefer the harsh beat of hard rock.

Recharging can involve letting go of a lot of negative charges, things that are bothering you, and this is best done by taking time by yourself to think and calm down.

Everyone is different

What is right for one person will not likely be right for another. This means you have no right to impose your recharging ideas on others, and they don’t have the right to impose theirs on you.

Recharging oneself can help avoid depression, explosiveness and other foolish or stupid behaviors which can lead to trouble.

I counseled one man recently, who after a blowup, realized he had not been taking care of himself. He was fortunate that others were understanding and concerned, something that doesn’t always happen in life.

Taking time to take care of yourself is the best way to ensure that you also take care of your relationships with those around you.
