Alta. farmer new 4-H council president

Alberta farmer Marie Logan was elected president of the Canadian 4-H Council at the group’s 75th annual meeting in Fredericton, N.B., May 26.

A resident of Lomond, Alta., Logan will serve her term until May 2007.

She has been involved in provincial and national 4-H activities for many years, including serving terms as president of

Alberta 4-H Council, chair of Alberta 4-H Foundation, chair of the national public relations committee and as member of the national board of directors.

Besides her work with 4-H, Logan has also served as a director of Alberta School Boards and was on Alberta’s Ministerial Task Force on Libraries, the Alberta Growth Summit and Agriculture Summit.

She is also a founding director of Chinook Arch Regional Library System and vice-chair of Horizon School Division.

“I look forward to playing a role in guiding the organization toward a bright future … as 4-H further positions itself as the leading youth development program in Canada,” said Logan.

She becomes president at a time when the national organization is beginning to implement its most recent strategic plan whose goal is to increase awareness and membership enrolment.
