New ownership will bring new opportunities and investment for Saskatchewan-based manufacturer Seed Hawk, say officials.
Vaderstad, a Swedish agricultural manufacturer, announced today that it has purchased the seed drill maker located in Langbank, Sask.
“When Vaderstad was considering investing in a North American factory, Seed Hawk management felt strongly that there was no better place to do it than Langbank, Sask.,” said Pat Beaujot, Seed Hawk founder, in a media release.
“However, in order to make an investment of that magnitude, Vaderstad wanted controlling interest in the company. When my partner, Brian Dean, and I looked at what having an even larger factory expansion in Langbank could do for our employees, our community and our province, it just made sense for us to sell.”

The two companies have been working together since 2006. Earlier this year, Seed Hawk announced two expansions to its manufacturing shop to help accommodate the production of Vaderstad products.
Seed Hawk will maintain its headquarters in Langbank. Current general manager Peter Clarke will become the company’s president and chief executive officer.
“We see great potential in Seed Hawk. One of the keys to the North American market is local presence, and Tempo, our high-speed precision planter, is a strategically important product for reaching that market,” said Christina Stark, CEO of Vaderstad, in a media release.
