The agriculture program at the University of Saskatchewan is the fifth best in Canada and No. 84 in the world, according to a U.S. publication.
The University of Guelph is the best place to study agriculture in Canada and is No. 12 in the world, U.S. News & World Report says in its inaugural rankings of agricultural science programs.
“Our overall impact is due to the quality and exceptional efforts of our faculty, staff and students,” said Rob Gordon, dean of the Ontario Agricultural College, in a statement heralding Guelph’s rankings.

As for other Canadian schools, U.S. News & World said:
•   University of British Columbia is the second best agricultural science university in Canada and No. 21 in the world.
•   University of Alberta, No. 51
•   McGill, No. 61
•   Saskatchewan, No. 84
•   Manitoba, No. 88
•   Toronto, No. 100
The University of Toronto ranking is curious because it doesn’t have an agriculture department.
Of note, the University of Saskatchewan and University of Manitoba ranked below the University of Tehran.
U.S. News & World Report said the rankings, released in late October, are based on the reputation of the agricultural science departments and the research produced by the university.
The University of California-Davis is the top agricultural sciences school in North America and No.2 two globally. No. 1 was Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
