Canada’s seeding problems have finally registered on U.S. markets.Chicago oats were up the 20 cent limit Monday morning to $2.47 per bushel, a five-month high, on a report from Randy Strychar of Oatinsight.com that said as much as 500,000 tonnes of potential oat production in Saskatchewan and 200,000 tonnes in Manitoba could be washed out. Minneapolis July wheat climbed 21.25 cents to $5.23 per bu. on the Canadian Wheat Board’s warning that spring wheat production in the Prairies will be sharply lower.In Winnipeg, July canola was at $403.80 per tonne, up $8.40 from the close on Friday.
