Saskatchewan releases latest crop report

SOUTHEAST

Precipitation ranged from five millimetres to a provincial high of 80 millimetres in the Marquis area.

Most crops are in good to excellent condition, and most are ahead or at their normal stage of development for this time of year.

Topsoil moisture conditions for cropland and hayland average 85 percent adequate.

SOUTHWEST

Rainfall ranged from trace amounts to 51 millimetres.

Cropland, hayland and pasture topsoil moisture are rated about 90 percent adequate.

All major crops have excellent growth and are developing well, including hay.

Canola damage has been attributed to cabbage seedpod weevils.

EAST-CENTRAL

Precipitation varied from six to 49 millimetres with about 10 percent of cropland unseeded because of excess moisture.

Most crops are in good to excellent condition with normal or above normal development. Spraying for weeds is wrapping up.

Cropland, hayland and pasture topsoil moisture conditions are rated 91 percent adequate.

WEST-CENTRAL

Rainfall ranged from 10 to 37 millimetres, and most crops are in good condition with excellent development.

Rainfall ranged from 12 to 36 millimetres.

Cropland topsoil moisture conditions are 80 percent adequate, while hayland and pastures are 67 percent adequate.

Crops are generally advancing well and at normal or above normal stages of development for this time of year.

Gophers are causing crop damage.
