Sask. ranch dominates National Western Stock Show

DENVER, Colorado – Six Mile Red Angus ruled at the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

Owned by Clayton and Corrine Gibson of Fir Mountain, Sask., the family won grand and reserve champion bull awards at the show held Jan. 14.

The bull show had five division bull championships and Six Mile won four of them. They were also named premier exhibitors and breeders of the entire show. Their champion was named Benchmark Better Beef and came from the senior bull division. The family brought 17 head to the show.

Canadians brought a large showing to the 107 year old event and many placed well in the female and bull classes.

Blairs Ag. Cattle Company, of Lanigan, Sask. had reserve champion fall heifer calf.

Northline Angus of Ardrossan, Alta. won senior champion female. Owned by the Howard Schneider family, they also won  reserve champion spring bull calf, reserve intermediate bull calf and reserve champion senior bull.

At the Gelbvieh show held at the same time, Royal Western Gelbvieh, owned by Rodney and Tanya Hollman of Innisfail, Alta., won the intermediate bull championship and reserve senior bull.
