Warm weather has assisted harvest operations in Saskatchewan.
Through Sept. 2, 14 percent of the 2013 crop has been combined and 28 percent has been swathed or is ready to be straight cut, according to the provincial agriculture ministry’s latest crop report.
Five-year averages for this time of year is 19 percent combined and 27 percent swathed or ready to straight cut.
At 30 percent, harvest is furthest along in southwestern Saskatchewan.
Across the province, 63 percent of the peas, 49 percent of the lentils, 66 percent of the winter wheat, five percent of the spring wheat and eight percent of the canola has been combined. As well, 50 percent of canola has been swathed.
Above-average yields are reported in the crops that have been harvested.
