COCHRANE, Alta. — A polled red Holstein female was the high seller at the Rocky Mountain High sale held at Cochrane July 2.

Westcoast Ladd Aspen sold for $197,000 to West Coast Holsteins of Chilliwack, B.C., after some active bidding in the sales tent, where more than 90 prime Holsteins were on offer.

“We think she will be a big time show cow,” said Jeff Kooyman of Westcoast.

The first major show will be at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, this fall.

The two-year-old was part of a five way partnership that included Westcoast Holsteins. The partners decided to offer her for sale and Westcoast now owns her outright.

The sale offered 90 lots that totalled $922,100. The unofficial sale average was $10,245.
