Alberta farmers and ranchers are inviting everyone to take a peek at their business this weekend in Alberta’s first Open Farm Days.

On Saturday, chefs and local producers team up to create farm-to-plate meals. Details and tickets for the chef events are at albertafarmdays.com.

On Sunday, more than 40 farms will open their doors to the public to get a glimpse into rural life. Admission to the farms is free, although there may be a charge for certain activities.

Visitors are encouraged to tour corn mazes, pick local produce and talk to the farmers about their farms, animals and life.

A list of the farms participating in the first Open Farm Days is on the website, as well as directions to the farms.

The goal of the events is to gain an appreciation of farmers and their lives, promote rural tourism and make stronger connections between the city and country and the farmer and the food on the table.
