Ontario heifer tops Simmental sale at Agribition

REGINA — An Ontario bred heifer topped the Canadian Western Agribition Simmental sale yesterday.

The entry from Billy and Juanita Almhirst, owners of Indian River Cattle Company in Ontario, was a young red female that sold for $22,000 to Ken and Mark Dimler, owners of Double Bar D Farms at Grenfell, Sask.

A red and white bull born in January fetched $16,000. Consigned by Black Gold Simmentals of Lloydminster, Sask., its new home will be with Lee and Tina Robson of Rimbey, Alta.

A solid red, polled heifer also born in January sold for $10,750 to Labatte Simmentals of Gladmar, Sask., and Circle 7 Simmentals of Shaunavon, Sask. It came from Erixon Simmentals of Clavet, Sask.

The unofficial sale average was $7,118 on 22 lots.
