WINNIPEG — Seeding operations are nearly complete across Manitoba, with only one percent of the intended canola and greenfeed crops left to go in the ground, according to the latest weekly report from Manitoba Agriculture for the week ended June 6.
Rainfall across the province ranged from four to as much as 74 millimetres during the week, with crop energy from excessive moisture being assessed in some locations. Some fields were showing symptoms of excess moisture, according to the report.
Farmers were actively controlling for weeds during the week, although field operations were hampered by the rainy weather conditions in some cases.
The moisture during the week was beneficial for hay and pasture land, with the majority hitting good to excellent ratings.
