Seeding operations continued across most of Manitoba last week before interruptions caused by rain in the last days of May, said Manitoba Agriculture’s weekly crop report issued June 3.
Seeding progress by region varied from 80 to 95 percent complete, with some areas within the regions not as advanced due to heavier rainfall amounts. Producers continue to modify initial seeding plans to account for seeding date. Reseeding of terminated winter wheat fields also continues, the report said.
The earliest seeded crops emerged and in-crop herbicide applications are underway on cereal and canola acres. Uniform emergence is noted for the most part. The cooler temperatures slowed plant development.

Western Canadian wheat prices were mostly weaker as rains in the Prairies delayed harvesting operations during the week ended Aug. 21, 2025.
Recent rainfall may impact crop emergence and plant stands, particularly in areas that received larger amounts of precipitation, the report said.
Frost was recorded in many areas of Manitoba over the weekend. To date, minimal damage to emerged crops was reported but crops will continue to be assessed over the coming days for injury symptoms.
