WINNIPEG — Manitoba farmers were making good harvest progress during the week ended Aug. 24 before a weather system over the weekend brought heavy harvest-delaying rains in many areas.

The moisture will benefit later maturing crops, as well as hay fields and pastures, according to the report. Harvest activity will resume once weather and field conditions allow.

The winter wheat harvest ranges from 40 percent done to nearly complete across the province, with yields generally described as average to above average.

Spring wheat, canola, oats and barley are also being harvested, although development was reported as highly variable across the province.
