Winnipeg, Sept. 4 (MarketsFarm) – Periodic rainfall limited harvest operations across Manitoba during the week ended Sept. 3, according to the latest provincial crop report from Manitoba Agriculture.
The total harvest was estimated at 38 per cent complete, which compares with the three-year average for this time of year of 51 per cent done. Crop yields were reported average to slightly-below-average across the province.
The winter wheat and fall rye harvest were both complete, while only two per cent of the field peas were left to be harvested. However, spring wheat was only 59 per cent done. That compares with the average for this time of year of 80 per cent complete. Quality downgrades were reported in some wheat fields where swaths were hit by recent rain and winds.

The barley harvest was right in line with the three-year average, at 78 per cent complete. Oats was 60 per cent complete, which compares with the average of 81 per cent done.
Canola accounts for the largest seeded area in the province, with 3.2 million acres seeded to the crop in 2019. The canola harvest was only 19 per cent done as of Sept. 3 – well off the three-year average of 53 per cent done.
