Producers from Carman, Man., have been recognized as Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2014.

Myron and Jill Krahn received the award Nov. 28 at a ceremony in Quebec City.

The Krahns and their two daughters, Cadence, 9 and Keira, 7, grow corn, soybeans, cereals and grass seed on their farm near Carman.

They also run a seed dealership, specializing in corn seed. Myron is the chair of the Manitoba Corn Growers Association.

The Krahns shared the award with a couple from Prince Edward Island. Andrew and Heidi Lawless were also selected as national winners of the program.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers Program is designed to recognize young farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession. Nominees must be farm operators between the ages of 18 and 39 who derive a minimum of two-thirds of their income from their farm operation.
