Informa raises Argentina soy, corn production forecasts – trade

Feb 3 (Reuters) – Informa Economics raised its estimates of 2014-15 Argentine corn and soybean production but left its soy production estimate for Brazil unchanged at 93.5 million tonnes, the private analytics firm said Tuesday in a note to clients.

Informa projected 2014-15 Argentine corn production at 23 million tonnes, up one million from its previous forecast released Jan. 6. The firm put Argentine soybean production at 57 million tonnes, up 1.5 million from last month.

Informa projected Brazil’s 2014-15 all-corn harvest at 72.8 million tonnes, up 550,000 tonnes from last month. The all-corn figure includes 28.8 million tonnes of main-crop corn and 44 million tonnes of winter corn.

For wheat, Informa raised its forecast of 2014-15 Argentine production to 12.5 million tonnes, up 500,000 from last month.

For cotton, Informa raised its forecast of 2015-16 (new crop) world production to 113.8 million bales, up from its January figure of 113.5 million.
