WINNIPEG — To add to already peaked flood worries, high wind warnings were in place yesterday for several flood-stricken areas around the province, according to a recent flood bulletin from the Government of Manitoba.
A high lake wind warning was in effect for the south shoreline of Lake Winnipeg and a moderate to high lake wind warning for the southern shores of Lake Winnipegosis and the eastern and western shores of the south basin of Lake Winnipeg. There was also a moderate lake wind warning in place for the southern shorelines of Lake Manitoba and Dauphin Lake.

The area around Brandon experienced a fairly localized rainstorm over the weekend, causing a slight rise in the river levels. The water levels on the Assiniboine River at Brandon are expected to gradually decline from crest levels within the next day.
A second crest on the Assiniboine River at the Portage Reservoir was expected yesterday or today. The second crest is forecast to be around 52,000 to 53,000 cubic feet per second and is expected to last for a few days before declining.
On Sunday, levels in the Red River had declined to the point where the floodway gates have started to be lowered. The operation of the floodway will gradually be shut down.
