In the southwest, producers have taken off about 60 percent of spring cereals with mainly barley left to combine.

Early-seeded canola fields are swathed or are ready for straight-cutting. About 25 percent of canola has been harvested. Soybeans are in the R6 to R5 stages, corn ranges from R4 to R5 stages.

In the northwest, crops are generally in good to excellent condition, except for areas were excessive moisture has crops rated in fair to poor condition.

Winter wheat and fall rye harvest is complete with spring wheat about 90 percent combined around Roblin and 60 percent around Swan River and well underway around Dauphin.

About 50 percent of canola in the region has been combined, soybeans are in the R7 stage, lentil harvest is in full swing, while flax is in the boil stage. Feed is also being put up and dry conditions have enabled producers to cut in areas not accessible for years.

In the central region, winter cereals are mostly harvested, spring cereals are 65 to 100 percent complete, with average to below average protein in wheat. Flax, soybean and corn harvests are some time away yet, although a few early-maturing soybeans are starting to come off.

In the eastern region, spring wheat is about 70 percent harvested with yields of about 65 bu.per acre being reported. Soybeans are mostly in the R6 stage, sunflowers are in R8, corn is in the dent stage. Some southern areas of the district are showing signs of drought stress.

In the Interlake region, spring cereals are reported as good to excellent with spring wheat yields of 90 bu.per acre and protein content often surpassing 14 percent.

Most canola is swathed or desiccated with about one-third of harvest complete. Flax harvest has started with yields of about 40 bu.per acre.

Soybeans fields are starting to show leaf colour change, but dry conditions are being reported and top pods are not filling well.
