Goat producers have access to $225,487 of federal funds to prepare for mandatory national identification and traceability requirements.

The money will help the Canadian National Goat Federation implement a plan for mandatory identification and traceability.

There are about 225,000 goats on 6,000 Canadian farmers.

“I am very pleased that CNGF has received this funding, which will allow us to put in place the necessary components for goat producers for when traceability regulations come into effect.” said Beth Peers, president of the CNGF.

The money is from the Growing Forward 2 AgriMarketing Program.
