The risk of fusarium head blight in Saskatchewan crops remains low, according to new risk assessment maps available online.

The online tool, launched earlier this week, will be updated daily using data collected from more than 400 weather stations in the province and estimated flowering dates provided by farmers.

The tool, developed by the Saskatchewan agriculture ministry and the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission with Weather INnovations Consulting, is available at bit.ly/1d44GPu.

“Farmers are reminded to combine this risk monitoring resource with other best management practices when it comes to fusarium, and use them all as a multi-pronged approach,” said Faye Dokken-Bouchard, provincial disease specialist, in a news release.
