Patti Miller, formerly with Agriculture Canada, has been named the new president of the Canola Council of Canada.
Miller had worked with Agriculture Canada in Winnipeg, where she managed large scale program delivery for several years. She was responsible for working with Canadian grain and oilseeds producers and industry on policy, trade, market development and research issues.
“We are tremendously fortunate to have someone of Ms. Miller’s caliber join our organization,” council chair Pat Van Osch said in a news release.
“Our board has every confidence that she has the expertise to lead our industry toward our 2015 strategic goals and beyond.”
Before working at Agriculture Canada, Miller was communications manager with a multinational agri-food company in Winnipeg.
She holds a masters of science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Saskatchewan.
Former president JoAnne Buth stepped down after being appointed to the Senate in January.
